Push boundaries – with TRAIL-MATE all the way to the Mediterranean!
With TECAM and SUP Unity, we created an accessible beach path all the way to the water in Barcelona – and helped people in wheelchairs get directly from the path onto a SUP board and out onto the Mediterranean Sea.
Barcelona, October 13, 2026 – A special day full of encounters, enthusiasm, and inclusion in action at the beach.
What happens when innovative accessibility solutions, committed partners, and a passion for water sports come together? Moments that will be remembered are born!
Together with our Spanish distribution partner TECAM, our water sports partner SUP Unity, and participants from the rehabilitation sector, we had the privilege of experiencing an extraordinary event on Barcelona's beach. Our shared goal: to show that sand, beaches, and the sea can also be accessible and enjoyable for people in wheelchairs.
And one thing we can say for sure: It was a great success!
With TRAIL-MATE over the sand – right down to the water
For people in wheelchairs, a sandy beach is often an almost insurmountable barrier. This is exactly where TRAIL-MATE comes in.
Together with the TECAM team, we laid our mobile TRAIL-MATE CLASSIC path slabs directly on the sand. Starting from the paved beach access, a stable, continuous path was created in no time, leading right up to the water's edge.
The interconnected slabs formed a drivable surface, making it much easier for wheelchairs to move than on loose sand.
It was particularly impressive how flexibly the system could be adapted to the local conditions. We were able to create a continuous path even over a sandy mound.
In addition, we used the TRAIL-MATE slabs to create larger areas for movement and gathering on the beach. Here, participants could meet, position their wheelchairs, and prepare for the upcoming water experience.
The result: A difficult-to-access sandy area became a place of encounter and participation.
From wheelchair to SUP – together out on the Mediterranean!
The absolute highlight of the day awaited right by the water.
Together with our partner SUP Unity, we organized a special stand-up paddling experience. On a large SUP board specially prepared for group use, people in wheelchairs were also able to experience the sea up close.
With the support of the experienced team, the wheelchairs were positioned and secured on the board. Then we all headed out onto the water together.
The pictures speak for themselves: beaming faces, enthusiasm, and a lot of joy!
For us, this moment was particularly moving. Because that is exactly what TRAIL-MATE is all about: not just creating paths, but opening up new possibilities.
The path over the beach was a crucial building block in this. Only through the combination of mobile beach access, committed support, and a suitable water sports offering was this shared experience possible.

And of course, we thank all the participants, helpers, and volunteers who made this day something truly special.
Accessibility doesn't have to be complicated
The event in Barcelona impressively showed how easily new access can be created with the right solutions.
The TRAIL-MATE CLASSIC slabs can be flexibly connected, laid as needed, and stored away after use. This makes them particularly suitable for temporary events, inclusive sports activities, and beach events.
Whether as a narrow connecting path, a larger area for movement, or access to special leisure activities: TRAIL-MATE enables mobility where conventional paths are missing.
For us, it is not just about technical solutions. It is about self-determination, community, and the opportunity to participate in experiences that are taken for granted by others.
Barcelona was just the beginning!
