General questions
For which surfaces are TRAIL-MATE path slabs suitable?
TRAIL-MATE path panels are designed to be used on a wide variety of surfaces – especially to provide access over otherwise difficult terrain for wheelchairs, strollers, or walking aids, such as sandy beaches, gravel, or uneven meadows.
Can I extend my TRAIL-MATE set?
Yes, our path slabs can be expanded at any time. You can configure them easily and conveniently according to your preferences.
Are there any restrictions on the use of the paving slabs?
TRAIL-MATE path plates are ideal for temporary, low-barrier paths on natural ground. However, they are not intended as a permanent construction or road solution or for extreme ground conditions. Do not use TRAIL-MATE as a bridge, on unstable or steep ground, or in close proximity to open fire.
Can the paving slabs slip?
On the beach and on sandy surfaces, TRAIL-MATE lies flat on the ground and creates a drivable path that lets you roll safely. For other surfaces and for fixation, we recommend our TRAIL-MATE PINS (ground pegs), which you can find here in our shop.
How stable are the paving slabs?
TRAIL-MATE is made of a robust and waterproof material that can withstand a weight of up to 3500kg. You can even drive over them with most emergency vehicles.
I would like to transport my TRAIL-MATE - is that possible?
Thanks to the recessed grip, you can carry the TRAIL-MATE at any time when folded - up to 10 plates at once. One plate weighs less than a kilo - a set of 8 plates weighs approx. 7.2kg. For safe and clean transport in your car, we recommend using our transport bag, e.g. the TRAIL-MATE FLEX Bag.
We are out and about in the forest every now and then... do you think we can use your TRAIL-MATE there too?
Yes, of course. We've also had very good experiences on forest paths. The TRAIL-MATE FLEX is particularly suitable here due to its small dimensions and light weight, meaning if you want to go camping or just enjoy nature, for example, you can create your own path. Give it a try :))
For municipalities, public beaches & event organizers
Do you also offer TRAIL-MATE for municipalities, public beaches, and event organizers?
Yes. We would be happy to put together a custom quote for beach access points, swimming areas, events, or facilities – tailored to the length, width, and surface of your path. Simply send us a request via our quote request form.
How wide should an accessible path be?
For public pathways, DIN 18040 generally specifies a usable width of at least 1.50 m to ensure wheelchair users can move and turn comfortably. TRAIL-MATE panels can also be connected side-by-side using Velcro fasteners – allowing you to flexibly adapt the path width to your needs.
How do we store the panels off-season?
It’s simple: The panels can be stacked flat and stored in a space-saving manner – for example, on a Euro pallet. This means an entire beach path can be quickly dismantled and stowed away in storage after the season.
Is it also possible to rent TRAIL-MATE?
Yes, you can rent TRAIL-MATE at some of our partner locations. You can find all locations on our homepage in the "Locations" section.
We would like to sell or rent out TRAIL-MATE – is that possible?
